Promoting active travel (walking and cycling) helps us tackle climate change, makes us healthier, both mentally and physically and has wide ranging economic benefits. By changing Sauchiehall Street from four lanes wide to two, the Avenues project was able to establish over thirty semi-mature trees, a cycle track, a footway wide enough for tables and chairs and seats for everyone to enjoy.
