Following the completion of a comprehensive masterplan for the Deane Campus, work commenced on a four-year phased programme of major improvements totaling over £3 million. The courtyard to the refurbished Design Studio has been completed. Viewed on all sides from glazed corridors including the main entrance lobby, the courtyard has been designed to provide a pleasant outlook as well as a seating and function area. In ground colored LED lighting combined with floodlighting of strategically placed artwork from the University’s students, will make the most of the night time environment.
Phase 1 of the external landscape works to the main entrance of the Design Studio has also been completed. The design enhances pedestrian links with the town centre and local transport nodes as well as creating a setting in keeping with the newly acquired University status. Terraced seating and a central entrance piazza provides space for informal gathering as well as for functions. Subsequent phases will incorporate external pedestrian routes with radical improvements to on site car parks.
