University of Glasgow

LUC is part of the team appointed by The University of Glasgow to help extend its historic campus, in the city’s West End, into the adjacent site of the former Western Infirmary Hospital.

One of the most high-profile regeneration projects in the Glasgow city region, this £500m project includes multiple new faculty buildings and several areas of public realm.

As part of the site infrastructure delivery team, LUC has responsibility for the design of all landscape and public realm associated with the project. Our design incorporates several new streets, lanes and major civic spaces, including a large new square at the heart of the proposed development.

Our design needed to respond to sensitivities such as a number of historic buildings, both on the existing university campus and on the former hospital site, and also regarding the site’s interface with the historic and high-profile Kelvingrove Park.

The project is currently at detailed design stage with implementation to be phased over several years.
