Vermilion, Rathbone Market

Plot1 named Vermilion is situated between Barking Road, which forms the high street of Canning Town and the busy A13 flyover which crosses the River Lea. The proximity of A13 required the scheme to provide a sound barrier to enable the external podium to be fit for use as an amenity space. The density of the scheme required on site play provision for younger childrenand to establish a courtyard garden on a podium above commercial space. Through public and stakeholder consultation thescheme should engage andinform the public realm strategy for Barking Road and the A13 interchange leading to master plan proposal for a new market square, underpass and improved permeability.
