Wuxiang Nature School

Guoxing Village, located at the foot of Wuxiang Mountain National Forest Park, was redeveloped as Wuxiang Nature School.

An issue common to rural areas, in China and elsewhere in the world, is that village populations are decreasing, leading to economic problems, issues with education and so on. Therefore, attracting urban residents - especially children - to visit rural areas is a priority.

This issue inspired the proposal to create the largest natural school for children in China. The site was selected by the local Lishui district government, Lishui Business Travel group and the YoungAsianScape Design Co., Ltd. design team, and it was finally decided to establish the Wuxiang Nature School in Guoxing village at the foot of Wuxiang Mountain.

The redevelopment relied on infusing the existing agriculture landscape with a landscape design that allows the farmland to be linked organically and transformed into a massive earth landscape. Meanwhile, the existing village buildings were renovated to be school buildings. With various kinds of natural habitats and renovated facilities, Wuxiang Nature School offers programs including natural education, family-oriented activities, food and beverages, home-stay, riding, art salon and book bar.
