About Rosemary Walker

Rose gained chartership status of the Landscape Institute in November 2015 and has over 10 years’ experience as a landscape architect; specialising in landscape planning. She works as a Principal Landscape Architect for Stephenson Halliday and has recently completed her Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence (APAEWE). Following receipt of an Upper Second-Class Honours degree in Landscape Architecture and Town Planning from the University of Sheffield, Rose began a year out placement before coming back to complete her Masters in Landscape Architecture in 2013. She has returned to the university in recent years to work as a tutor, supporting students on landscape planning related modules, including a module on landscape/townscape character and sensitivity assessment. Rose has broad experience with landscape planning including landscape & visual impact appraisals and assessments for EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment), involvement in Development Consent Orders (DCOs), co-ordinating landscape mitigation design in response to identified landscape and visual effects, landscape feasibility, landscape sensitivity assessment and landscape and townscape character assessment. She has worked on projects in England, Scotland and Wales within a number of sectors including highways, energy (including renewables), residential, commercial, and minerals and waste, for both private and public sector clients. Rose’s experience also includes landscape design such as landscape mitigation design, landscape masterplans, detailed landscape design proposals which are subsequently used to clear planning conditions or for construction, working with Biodiversity Net Gain and Urban Greening Factor policies, and providing tender documentation. She is also proficient in producing landscape management plans and undertaking audits of implemented landscape works in order to ensure the ongoing success of landscape schemes past the point of implementation.
