About Clare Horner

Clare is a chartered landscape architect with over twenty years of experience in all aspects of landscape architectural work. This includes landscape and visual impact assessment, master-planning, design, and landscape management works; from feasibility, inception through planning and implementation. Clare’s experience also includes extensive renewable energy sites for wind, solar and battery storage schemes in Scotland, and across the UK. Clare also has experience in seascape assessment for aquaculture and flood protection developments in Scotland. As part of the LVIA process this includes landscape design and mitigation proposals, landscape character assessment, the consideration of landscape capacity, and involvement in the design iteration process of the development to achieve a ‘best fit’ for the proposed development, and the predicted visual impact of the proposal on visual receptors. Clare’s LVIA experience includes nationally significant infrastructure projects, including the Aquind Interconnector NSIP project on the south coast of England and the A1 Dualling in Northumberland, and as a landscape witness at public inquiry for Armistead Wind Farm and a multi faith cemetery in Kingston upon Hull. Her experience also includes involvement in community engagement events through questionnaires, face to face consultations, presentations, school consultation and public exhibition days. She was also a member of the Landscape Institute’s Working Group for Rural Landscapes.
